(Mineola, NY)  A new initiative launched by Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell is the on-site recording of Veterans Discharge Papers conveniently, quickly and close to Veterans’ homes.  Taking part in this program recently were members of the Seaford American Legion Post 1132 who enjoyed this new service right at their Post.  The Nassau County Clerk’s Office records and secures Veterans Discharge Papers (DD-214) free of charge so that Veterans and their families may obtain a certified copy of these vital records should the need arise.  The County Clerk’s Office is continuing to work with Veterans’ groups throughout the County to bring this important benefit to as many Veterans as possible. 

Veterans may also participate in another program established by the County Clerk, the Veterans Recognition Program.  When a Veteran’s DD-214 is recorded, they are given a card enabling them to receive discounts on goods and services at various businesses in our communities.
