NEW SERVICE FOR SURVIVING SPOUSES OF FORMER NASSAU COUNTY EMPLOYEES

An important message about your health insurance from Comptroller George Maragos:

Nassau County is offering a new service to make it easier for widows and widowers of former county employees to pay their monthly health insurance premiums.

As an alternative to the current method of mailing a check once a month for your health insurance premiums, you now have the option of having these payments automatically deducted directly from a bank account of your choice. This method is known as Pre-Authorized Payment. It is similar to how many people pay their auto loans, mortgages, or insurance premiums. If you choose to participate in this program, you will not have to remember to write a check each month, and you will have the peace of mind of knowing that your payment is always received on time. Also, you won't have to pay for postage.

Enrollment is voluntary and free of charge. You may also cancel at any point and return to mailing monthly checks by notifying us and your financial institution of the change. If you would like to participate, please download, print this form, fill it out and mail it with a blank voided check (write the word "VOID" in large letters across the front) to:

George Maragos
County Comptroller
Attn: Health Insurance Section
240 Old Country Road
Mineola, NY 11501-4247

Once your response is received, it will be processed immediately. Payments will be automatically deducted from your designated account on the 10th of the preceding month. For example, a payment for December would automatically be deducted on November 10th.
