Nassau Opens Showers at County Parks to Accommodate Residents

County Expands Summer Movie Schedule at Eisenhower

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that in an effort to support Nassau County residents who are still suffering from LIPA power outages, shower facilities will be available at two County pools to accommodate residents free of charge. The County will also provide free movies at Eisenhower Park on Wednesday, August 31st and Thursday, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre.

“Many of our residents have been inconvenienced while LIPA works to restore power throughout Nassau County. Accordingly, I welcome anyone who may be in need to visit shower facilities at our County pools,” said County Executive Mangano. “I also invite everyone to come to Eisenhower Park and enjoy the last few carefree days before Labor Day with a movie under the stars.”

Beginning on Wednesday, August 31, shower facilities at North Woodmere Park will be available daily from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. At Cantiague Park in Hicksville, the showers will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Iron Man 2 will be shown at the Lakeside Theatre on Wednesday, August 31, and bottled water will be available free of charge. On Thursday, September 1, The Twilight Saga-Eclipse will be shown at Lakeside, as the final movie night of Nassau County’s Family Movie Night series. All residents are welcome.

Eisenhower Park is located in East Meadow, with entrances on Hempstead Turnpike at East Meadow Avenue and at the intersection of Stewart and Merrick Avenues.
