Mangano Addresses Issues Affecting Young Adults With Action Long Island

Announces formation of a County Executive Youth Cabinet

Woodbury, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today attended the 20th Annual “County Executive Update” hosted by Action Long Island. County Executive Mangano was joined by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy for a “Fireside Chat” with young adult leaders representing Action Long Island’s Young Adult Alliance to discuss issues affecting young adults.

“This was a unique opportunity to discuss with the next generation of Long Island’s leaders the issues affecting their lives,” said County Executive Mangano. “This forum provided young Long Islanders a chance to publicly voice their opinions and share ideas regarding the future of their communities.”

“We are very proud of the outstanding progress made by the many dedicated members of our Young Adult Alliance, and look forward to continuing to provide them with a platform to bring their issues to the attention of all Long Islanders”, said Action Long Island Chairman Sheldon Sackstein.

Mangano outlined efforts to keep Nassau affordable for young adults, including the Nassau County Home Down Payment Assistance Program, which assists first-time homebuyers with expenses. He also announced that the County is in the process of creating a Youth Cabinet for young adults, which would open a dialogue between lawmakers and young adults of Nassau County. Cabinet members will work closely with the County Executive to assess youth issues in the county, provide input and feedback on legislation, and develop solutions.

“Young adults are the future of Nassau County, and it is important to include them in the decision-making process,” said County Executive Mangano.

Joining County Executives Mangano and Levy on the panel were two members of the Young Adult Alliance, Frances Picone of Exchange Solutions and Louis Imbroto of the Long Island Contractors’ Association.
