Mangano Joins Mid Island Collision And LI Cares, Inc. At Holiday Meal Donation

Providing Holiday Meals to 10,000 Families in time for Thanksgiving Mangano joins Mid Island Collision and LI Cares at Holdiday Meal donation

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today joined Rockville Centre-based Mid Island Collision owner Bob Jesberger and Executive Director of Long Island Cares, Paule Pachter, as they provided meals to 10,000 families in time for the Holiday Season. The reality that hunger impacts more than 300,000 Long Islanders remains at the forefront of the corporate partnership between Mid Island Collision of Rockville Centre and Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

“I have always believed that local businesses are the heart of our communities, and this is a great illustration of why they are so important,” said County Executive Mangano. “Bob Jesberger understands that charity begins at home, and he is taking care of his neighbors. I applaud him for his generosity and hope other businesses follow this incredible example of giving. Bob’s donation will make an important difference in the lives of so many people this holiday season.”

Jesberger purchased 5,000 holiday meals that will consist of chickens, turkeys and hams, which was matched by Long Island Cares, Inc. to provide 10,000 families with Thanksgiving meals who otherwise would have little or nothing. Mid Island Collision serves as the distribution site for many local pantries, soup kitchens and other emergency feeding programs to pick up the 10,000 food boxes. Approximately 40,000 people will now be able to have a holiday meal as a result of this distribution. Long Island Cares coordinated a day-long schedule for agencies to receive the donations from Mid Island Collision as well as from The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge throughout the day.

“To those that have given much, much is to be expected. Be a good steward,” said Jesberger.

Long Island Cares is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community based organization, that provides emergency food where and when it is needed, sponsors programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency, and educate the general public about the causes and consequences of hunger on Long Island. The Harry Chapin Food Bank is Long Island’s First Food Bank and, together with Community Outreach Programs, makes Long Island Cares one of the New York Region’s most comprehensive hunger action organizations.

“We’re fortunate to have the support of local companies like Mid Island Collision and organizations like Long Island Cares in our fight against hunger,” said Mangano. “Thanks to their continued generosity, thousands of Long Island families who otherwise would have gone without will enjoy a brighter, more hopeful holiday.”
