Mangano Establishes Non-Emergency Hotline During Blizzard

Urges residents to stay indoors during dangerous storm

With a major blizzard expected to dump at least a foot of snow on Long Island, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has ordered a hotline be established in Nassau for all non-emergency calls. Beginning at 3:00 p.m., residents can call 888-684-4274 for assistance with any snow-related situation that is not life-threatening or an emergency. Any emergency call should be placed to 911.

“The lines of communication in Nassau County are open,” said Mangano. “We want to ensure every resident is safe, and we are made aware of any situation that could create danger in the community.”

Mangano said residents who have concerns about downed trees or plowing issues, for example, should use the 888-684-4274 number. To further inform people of the number, an automated call from the County Executive will be made to every household is aware of the 888-684-4274 number.

Mangano also suggested that people take advantage the holiday weekend by staying indoors with family and off the roads.

If any Nassau resident is in need of shelter, please call the Nassau County Warm Bed Hotline at 1-866-WARM-BED.

“This storm will create treacherous conditions. Our County workforce will be working hard to keep the streets safe, and you can help by keeping cars off the road,” said Mangano. “Please stay indoors today.”

The Nassau County Non-Emergency Hotline is 888-684-4274. The number will be in operation beginning at 3:00 p.m. today and will be active throughout the duration of the storm. All emergencies should be reported to 911.
