Mangano Honors Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department EMT Justin Angell

Mangano honors fire department emt

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano presented Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department EMT Justin Angell with the Nassau County Valor Award for his bravery. Mr. Angell was shot and wounded by a crazed gunman while responding to a car accident on March 1, 2011. EMT Angell was shot in the torso by Jason Beller, who opened fire on Justin and other rescue workers after Beller crashed his pickup in Bellmore.

“Bravery, courage and sacrifice are just three words to describe Justin’s dedication,” said County Executive Mangano. “Each and every day our volunteer firefighters and EMT personnel wake up and respond to emergencies with a single goal: saving lives. The events of that tragic night remind us all of just how dangerous of a job that can be. Our volunteer firefighters and EMT professionals run into hazardous situations with no regard for their own safety and with never a thought of being recognized for their heroism.”
