“Charity Challenge” Winners

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano was happy to present a trophy to “Friends of Karen” as the winners of the 2010 RXR / TIAA-CREF Long Island Marathon’s “Run for Charity Challenge”.

“I am honored to present this trophy to ‘Friends of Karen’, which had a record 205 participants in all the Marathon Weekend races,” said County Executive Mangano. “They help thousands of children and families each year through their tireless efforts and are truly deserving of this award.”

The Run for Charity Challenge” was introduced at this year’s marathon and acknowledges the local charity with the most participants registered on its team for Marathon weekend’s entire Festival of Races.  County Executive Mangano presented “Friends of Karen” with their trophy at their annual golf outing, held at the Meadowbrook Club on May 11, 2010.

Founded in 1978, “Friends of Karen” provides support and assistance to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
