Mangano: Nassau County’s Summer Recreation Program

Spots Still Available; Residents Encouraged to Sign Up Before it’s too Late

 

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that the County’s Summer Recreation Program is on its way to success with children signing up to attend the program.

“Whether attending Cantiague, Christopher Morley, Nickerson Beach or Wantagh, children attending Nassau County’s Summer Recreation Program can count on real summer fun,” said Mangano.  “With so many children signed up so far, I encourage families to sign up soon before the program gears up!”

Details on Nassau County’s Summer Recreation Program:

  • Open weekdays, for children aged 5-12, from July 6th to August 12th (not open July 5th), from 9:00am to 3:00pm at four locations:  Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn, Cantiague Park in Hicksville, Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach, and Wantagh Park in Wantagh.
  • Activities include:  arts and crafts, board games, scavenger hunts, disk golf, horseshoes, potato-sack races, and sports such as baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
  • Registration Deadline:  June 15, 2010.  On-site registration is available at the following locations and dates:  Wantagh Park on June 8th from 6-8pm; Cantiague Park on June 9th from 6-8pm; Christopher Morley Park on June 10th from 6-8pm; and Nickerson Beach on June 11th from 6-8pm.
  • Fees:  $450 for the first child, $400 for the second child, and $350 for the third child in same family (Maximum fee for families of three or more is $1,200).
