Local Garden City Employer Opens its Doors for Tour

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today showcased Lifetime Brands, Inc. as the Nassau County “Business of the Month” and toured their facility. Lifetime Brands, Inc. employs over 240 workers in Garden City and over 1,000 workers worldwide. Lifetime Brands is North America’s leading resource for nationally branded kitchenware, tabletop and home décor products. Recognizing Lifetime Brands, Inc. as a good corporate citizen, County Executive Mangano and the Nassau County Legislature renamed Endo Boulevard to Lifetime Brands Boulevard.

“Businesses like Lifetime Brands are the heartbeat of our local economy,” said County Executive Mangano. “With local employers contributing to the economic base and connectivity of our local communities, we must help raise awareness of the role they play and promote a business-friendly Nassau that attracts suppliers and distributors in similar industries.”

In an effort to support the business community, County Executive Mangano profiles a different company on the County website each month. The companies featured represent a cross-section of industry and geographic location throughout the County. Many have products and services that reach beyond our region. County Executive Mangano tours the facility of each business profiled along with members of the County’s Office of Economic Development Business Development Unit to demonstrate their commitment to understanding the needs of the small, mid-sized and large business community. Lifetime Brands, Inc. is the second business selected since the inception of the “Business of the Month” program in April 2011.

Jeffrey Siegel, Chairman, President and CEO stated, “We are honored to be recognized by Nassau County as the “Business of the Month” and for the renaming of Endo Boulevard to Lifetime Brands Boulevard. We would like to thank County Executive Edward Mangano and the members of the County’s Office of Economic Development Business Development Unit for the work they have done to keep good paying jobs in Nassau County and for highlighting our company and our contribution to the local economy. We are extremely pleased with the quality and integrity of the talented, hard working Long Islanders that make up a large portion of our staff. Lifetime Brands has been part of the Long Island community for 18 years and we look forward to many more prosperous years ahead.”

World famous architect Paul Rudolph designed the landmark building at 1000 Stewart Avenue. The unique building, designed in the 1960s, originally served as the headquarters of Endo Pharmaceuticals. Described as a "Fortress for Pharmaceuticals" by architectural publications at the time it was completed in 1964, the building ranks among the major projects designed by Rudolph, who was considered America's most-talented Late Modernist architect. After Endo was sold in 1969 to E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co., the building was used as a pharmaceutical plant by a succession of companies that included DuPont Pharmaceuticals and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
