Mangano Auctions Off Surplus Vehicles And Inventory To Recoup Tax Dollars

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that nearly $80,000 was generated by an auction of surplus County vehicles in disrepair and other inventory. The auction, which ended on June 3rd, was part of Nassau County’s inventory management program.

“By auctioning this surplus inventory, the County is able to recoup expenses and not waste any of the assets owned by Nassau’s taxpayers. These vehicles and items had been all but forgotten, but have now been turned into dollars for the County,” said County Executive Mangano.

The auction, run by Auctions International, featured surplus vehicles, scrap metal, and appliances.

Nassau County vehicles are auctioned as surplus when it costs more to maintain them than they are worth, have been badly damaged, or can no longer serve a purpose in County government.
