Mangano Announces Oldies Concert At Eisenhower Park On Saturday, August 20th

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has announced an Oldies Concert, featuring some of the top artists and groups of the 50’s and 60’s will be taking place at Eisenhower Park’s Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre on Saturday, August 20, 2011. The concert is sponsored by radio station B103.1 FM – Long Island’s Greatest Hits.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will open with The Brooklyn Reunion, including Emil Stucchio and The Classics, The Emotions, and The Excellents. The Del Satins and Bridging the Gap with The Brooklyn Bridge are the headlining acts. B103 radio personality Mickey B will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

“We are delighted to be able to present such a terrific lineup of oldies artists and their music. This is a show for the entire family to enjoy,” said County Executive Mangano.

Much of the Nassau County Parks Department programming for July, August and September is funded through the Nassau County Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant. These funds are made available to us through proceeds from taxes on hotel and motel rooms in Nassau County. Since 2006, Nassau County has received over ten million dollars from this grant, and it has assisted in historic building restoration and other cultural enhancements.

The concert will take place at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park, near Parking Fields 6 and 6A. Special accommodations are available for persons with disabilities, including reserved parking, accessible restrooms, and a convenient reserved location on the hill. Assistive hearing devices will be available free of charge for the hearing impaired.

There is no formal seating at Lakeside, so concertgoers should bring folding chairs or blankets. If weather conditions are doubtful, call (516) 572-0355 after 7:00 p.m. for updated performance information. Programs are subject to change.

Eisenhower Park is located in East Meadow, with entrances on Hempstead Turnpike at East Meadow Avenue and at the intersection of Stewart and Merrick Avenues.
