Mangano Invites You To Celebrate Garvies Point Day

A fun-filled day for families and seniors to enjoy at the Museum

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announces the return of the popular Garvies Point Day, on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In observance of all that is nurtured and celebrated at the museum, Garvies Point will be offering films and movies, face painting, gallery tours, nature crafts, and nature walks. Also featured will be bird watching, a butterfly garden tour, and a lapidary workshop open house.

“Garvies Point Day offers a variety of entertainment for our families and seniors to enjoy,” said County Executive Ed Mangano. “Come take a tour of all the wonders that nature has to offer here in Nassau County.”

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 5 through 12 years of age. Children under 5 are free.

The Garvies Point Museum and beautiful adjoining 62-acre preserve are located at 50 Barry Drive in Glen Cove by Hempstead Harbor. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about the Garvies Point Museum and Preserve, call 516-571-8010.
