Mangano Announces Rededication Of Rose Garden At Eisenhower Park

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced the rededication of the Eisenhower Park Rose Garden, as part of the Long Island Transplant Recipients International Organization's (LITRIO) annual ceremony to recognize and honor organ donors and donor families, for "truly the gift of life - organ donation." The ceremony will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Eisenhower Park Rose Garden located near parking fields 6 and 6A.

"Organ donation is something we should all consider, as a personal legacy," said County Executive Mangano. "The rededication of the Rose Garden is just a small token of Nassau County's gratitude to donors and donor families for their life saving gift."

The LITRIO maintains the Rose Garden as part of their participation in Nassau County's Adopt a Park Program and in recognition and celebration of life giving organ donation. LITRIO is the local chapter of Transplant Recipients International Organization, which is an independent, not-for-profit, international organization committed to advocacy for candidates, recipients, their families and the families of organ and tissue donors.

Among the speakers at the ceremony will be elected officials and healthcare professionals, donor families and organ and tissue recipients, including two-time kidney transplant recipient, New York State Assemblyman Jim Conte.

Eisenhower Park is located in East Meadow, New York, with entrances on Hempstead Turnpike at East Meadow Avenue and Merrick Avenue at Stewart Avenue. For additional information regarding Nassau County Parks, call (516) 572-0200 or visit the website at: www.nassaucountyny.gov/parks.
