Nassau County Joined by Rep. Israel to Provide Veterans with Employment Services;

Urges Local Businesses to Participate

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has announced that the “Welcome Back Warriors” All Veterans Job Fair will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 9:00AM – 3:00PM at the Morelly Center for Homeland Security in Bethpage. Co-sponsored by Rep. Steve Israel, the job fair is open to all veterans seeking employment opportunities and career counseling. Mangano also invites Long Island businesses to register for the fair and recruit local veterans for employment.

“Help us help those who defended our freedom by calling today to participate. Be that business that helps a local veteran land that first job when they return home,” said County Executive Mangano. “We must never forget these brave men and women.”

Some of the participating employers include: Astoria Federal Savings, National Grid, New York Life, North Shore-LIJ, and the New York State Department of Labor. Advisors will also be on hand for career counseling, interview skills improvement, resume writing, and to answer questions related to the G.I. Bill. In addition, participating employers may be entitled to thousands of dollars in federal tax credits

The fair is open to veterans and active members of all four branches of the military, the National Guard and the Reserves. All participants are asked to bring a copy of their DD214, VA card, or any record they may have of their service. The Morelly Center for Homeland Security is located 510 Grumman Road West, Bethpage, NY, 11714.

Employers interested in taking part in the job fair can call the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency at (516) 572-8452.
