Mangano Urges Residents To Donate Blood Today

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano urges residents to donate blood today, September 7, 2010, at blood drive hosted by the Golden Donors at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The Golden Donors, a group of Long Island retirees, encourages blood donors and volunteers during the most critical times of the year, such as in the days following three-day holiday weekends like Labor Day in order to replenish the blood supply. The group is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and is especially trying to recruit donors over the age of 50.

“Please come down and give – your blood donation could save a life.  Taking that small amount of time out of your day could mean a lot to a family whose loved one is in need,” said County Executive Mangano.

Healthy individuals are encouraged to donate blood between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM at 8325 Jericho Turnpike, Main Floor Terrace Room, Woodbury, NY 11797. Crest Hollow Country Club has doubled the hours of this blood drive to help attract more Long Islanders to donate before and after work.
