Mangano Welcomes the Long Island Senior Softball Championship Tournament to Mitchel Athletic Complex

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano invites players and teams to participate for The Long Island Senior Softball Championship Tournament brought to you by Senior Softball USA at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. The Tournament will take place on Saturday, October 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“This tournament is the perfect opportunity for residents who love the game to play in a friendly competition and possibly earn the title of Champion,” said County Executive Mangano.

The Long Island Senior Softball Championship Tournament will consist of 20 teams divided into two divisions, the Golden Division and the Silver Division. All players in the Golden Division must be Age 50+ as of December 31, 2012, and all players in the Silver Division must be Age 60+ as of December 31, 2012. There will be 20 teams playing in the tournament with the guarantee of playing 5 games per team – 3 games on October 1st and 2 games on October 2nd. Division winners will be crowned the official Champions of Long Island.

Mitchel Athletic Complex is a 49-acre complex centrally located in the “Hub” area just west of Nassau Coliseum and opposite the Long Island Children's and Cradle of Aviation museums, Mitchel hosts a variety of local high school and collegiate athletic events, as well as local sports leagues making this the perfect venue to host The Long Island Senior Softball Championship Tournament.
