Mangano: Eisenhower Park To Host 2011 Nassau County Section VIII Public High School Girls Tennis Championship

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced today that Eisenhower Park will be hosting the 2011 Nassau County Section VIII Public High School Girls Tennis Championships on Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th.

“Nassau County is pleased to host such a prestigious tournament, featuring the most talented high school tennis players on Long Island,” said County Executive Mangano. “I extend my best wishes to the participants for a successful competition.”

High Schools from across Long Island will compete for trophies and the chance to qualify for the New York State Championships in November. Competitors are chosen by their high school coaches. The Singles and Doubles Championships will be held as follows: Saturday, October 15th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Round of 32, 16, quarter final Sunday, October 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Trophy presentations will be at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

In case of rain on Saturday, the competition will begin on Sunday and continue on Saturday, October 22nd. In case of rain on both days, October 15th and 16th, the competition will be held on October 22nd and 23rd.

Eisenhower Park, operated by the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, is located in East Meadow, with entrances on Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Avenue.
