Nassau County Mourns The Loss Of Police Officer Joseph Olivieri

Flags at County Government Buildings Ordered to Half-Staff

OFFICIAL STATEMENT – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano:

“My deepest sympathies go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Nassau County Police Officer Joseph Olivieri of the Highway Patrol Bureau, who lost his life in the line of duty on October 18, 2012 while preforming his duties on the Long Island Expressway. Police Officer Olivieri’s dedication to keeping Nassau County safe deserves the highest recognition and sincere gratitude of our residents.

This is a tragic day for the County of Nassau and the Nassau County Police Department. Officer Olivieri joined the Nassau County Police Department in 1998 and served as an exemplary police officer. Officer Olivieri is survived by his two children; Amanda and Daniel.

On behalf of the people of Nassau County, I have ordered all Nassau County government buildings to fly our Nation’s flag at half-staff in memory of Police Officer Joseph Olivieri.”

Effective today, Thursday, October 18, 2012, flags on County government buildings are to be flown at half-staff through November 18, 2012in honor of Nassau County Police Officer Joseph Olivieri’s service to the residents of Nassau County.
