Mangano Announces Food & Drink Distributions

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that on the County, FEMA, Island Harvest and the Red Cross began distributing food and drinks to thousands of residents impacted by the damage related to Hurricane Sandy.

County Executive Mangano stated, “Hurricane Sandy has deprived many of us of the most essential things in life—food, water and shelter. We are cooperating with multiple federal, state and local agencies and not-for-profits to deliver these essentials to our neighbors.”

ISLAND HARVEST FOOD DISTRIBUTION TODAY

Island Harvest will distribute up to 20,000 sandwiches and drinks today to residents on the streets of the following neighborhoods today through a Mobile Distribution Center:
•   Freeport
•   Island Park
•   Massapequa
•   Seaford

RED CROSS FOOD DISTRIBUTION

The Red Cross has opened a number of Mobile Meals distribution centers Nassau County Locations are open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Meals, water, and comfort kits will be distributed at the following locations.
•   Cedar Creek Park in Seaford - Merrick Road east of Wantagh Avenue
•   Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach - 880 Lido Boulevard

FEMA’s Points of Distribution (PODs) are located throughout the north and south shores of Nassau County. Locations include:
