Mangano Invites Residents To Celebrate Garvies Point Day

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announces the return of the popular Garvies Point Day, on Saturday, August 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Garvies Point Museum and Preserve.

In observance of all that is nurtured and celebrated at the museum, Garvies Point will be offering nature films, nature crafts, guided nature walks, beach exploration and pond investigation. Also featured will be a butterfly garden tour and bird watching walks with North Shore Audubon, Coast Guard Day with U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, rock & mineral identification, and more. Additionally, there will be a Live Animals Presentation given by Tackapausha Museum on Garvies Point Day. Admission is $5 for adults and children ages 4 and older.

“Garvies Point Day offers a variety of entertainment for our residents to enjoy,” said County Executive Mangano. “Come take a tour of all the wonders that nature has to offer right here in Nassau County.”

The Garvies Point Museum and beautiful adjoining 62-acre Preserve is located at 50 Barry Drive in Glen Cove near Hempstead Harbor. Garvies Point includes permanent exhibits and educational programs devoted to regional geology and Native-American archaeology. In addition, changing exhibits cover a variety of natural history subjects.
