Mangano Announces "The Great Race On The Sea"

Dozens of Powerboats to Compete from Nickerson Beach to Long Beach

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano invites you to a weekend of fun activities that the whole family can enjoy! The Great Race on the Sea, presented by Great South Bay Racing, Inc. will be held Friday, August 23rd through Sunday, August 25th. Long Islanders can make this weekend part of your year-end summer staycation. Visitors from the tri-state area are expected to boost attendance at local beaches, restaurants and stores. • Friday, August23rd:Seabreeze Park, Nautical Mile, Freeport: Race Boats on display from 4pm- 10pm
• Saturday, August 24th: Long Beach Race boats on display from 4pm- 10pm Kennedy Plaza, Long Beach Entertainment, Vendors, Crafts & More!

• Sunday, August 25: First race begins at noon! Second race begins at approximately 2pm. All races can be viewed anywhere along the race route shore from Nickerson Beach to National Boulevard, Long Beach.
• Awards Ceremony: Trophies and awards will be presented Sunday at 6pm: Nickerson Beach Park, Nickerson West Building.

Please note that it is Piping Plover Season.Please be aware when walking to the beach. Stay on pavements and walkways when possible to avoid damaging nesting and/or foraging sites. Please stay off the dunes.
