A Message from Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano

We’d like to thank all of you who attended Saturday’s Concert In The Park – Nassau Helping Nassau and helped to support the Nassau Hurricane Recovery Fund, and in turn, your neighbors. Those who were there know there was terrific music and a great environment the entire day. The concert raised about $21,000 in all – enough for the NHRF to give out $1,000 awards to 20 more Nassau families who are still struggling to rebuild their storm-shattered homes and lives.

A special thank you also to all the sponsors of the event, and the bands that donated performances. This event would not have been possible without all of you.

Sincerely,

Edward P. Mangano

Hurricane Sandy wreaked unprecedented havoc and destruction on Nassau County. Thousands of homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed, at least 1,400 homes were rendered unlivable. Hundreds of Nassau residents are still living in motels, or staying with friends or family because they lack the funds to repair their homes.

The Nassau Hurricane Recovery Fund (NHRF) is here for the long run. It was created by Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano to collect private donations and distribute them directly to Nassau residents, who may be uninsured or under-insured. The fund, under the direction of a volunteer group of Nassau’s Police and Fire Service chaplains, depends on the generosity of neighbors helping neighbors. Learn more at www.NassauRecovery.com.
