MANGANO URGES GREATER USE OF DSS OUT STATIONS FOR DOCUMENT DROP-OFF

County Executive Edward P. Mangano urges Nassau County residents to make greater use of the two document drop-off out stations located at Nassau Health Care Corporation’s NuHealth Centers in Westbury and Hempstead. “Many Nassau County residents have been negatively impacted by the economy and find themselves in need of services,” said County Executive Mangano. “This has contributed to the increase in visitors coming to the Department of Social Services located at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Uniondale, NY. Providing an out station that is easily accessible for residents to drop off documents saves time and reduces travel to Uniondale. We are pleased to offer this service and expect greater utilization at these two document drop-off out stations.”

The first document drop-off location was opened on April 6, 2009, at the Westbury NuHealth Center located at 682 Union Ave, Westbury. The second location opened February 22, 2010 at the Hempstead Center on 135 Main Street. Experienced bi-lingual Social Services staff are on-site and available to accept documents, answer general questions and hand out applications for assistance. The Westbury site is open Mondays thru Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the Hempstead site is open Mondays thru Fridays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Social Services Commissioner John E. Imhof stated, “clients who live in the area and in nearby communities can bring their documentation to Hempstead or Westbury and their papers will be processed the same as if they were coming to the DSS central office in Uniondale. Both locations are proving to be a success.”
