Nassau County Launches Efforts to Address Perinatal Mood Disorders

Garden City, N.Y. – The Nassau County Department of Health Perinatal Services Network, in partnership with the Nassau County Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities Services, Mental Health Association of Nassau County, North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, the Postpartum Resource Center of New York and United Health Care of Long Island will host a kick-off event on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Nassau County Medical Society.

The event, entitled “She Is Not Alone: Creating a Safety Net for Pregnant and Postpartum Women in Nassau County who face Perinatal Mood Disorders” will feature two campaigns whose mission is to raise public awareness of the challenges that new mothers often face.  The “Ask the Question” and “You Are Not Alone” campaigns will be introduced at this event.  Two mothers will also speak and share their own personal experience with Perinatal Mood Disorders.
