Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following 17 beaches as a precautionary measure, effective today, June 18, 2011.
Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels used to assess bathing water quality.

Pryibil Beach
Ransom Beach
Roosevelt Beach

In addition, Laurel Hollow Beach remains closed due to elevated bacterial levels.
