June 20, 2006
Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Hempstead), joined by local precincts and community based organizations, is hosting a Gang Prevention Informational Session for local parents, families, groups and churches to discuss the various gang signs and activity that one should look for in their children, their children’s friends, and their neighbors and community.
During the summer, children have plenty of free time which is prime for gang recruitment and gang activities. Through this program, residents will learn the services that are available to them and their families and what the local authorities are doing to make the community safer. Residents will also learn valuable information such as gang names and signs, gang colors, clothing styles, gang initiations and gang hangouts and how they can make a difference.
