(GREAT NECK, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) was proud to recognize three outstanding students from Great Neck North High School who are Intel Science Talent Search 2014 Semifinalists. These students were recognized during a full meeting of the Nassau County Legislature held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Nassau County Legislature building in Mineola.
Prior to the legislative session, Legislator Birnbaum spoke with each student, and presented them with county citations of achievement.

Richard Feder, 17, worked on an “Analysis of Chandra X-ray data of Elliptical Galaxies in the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS).” Larry Li, 17, also did a project in Space Science on the “Velocity Gradients in Relation to Spatial Scale of Star – Forming Dense Cores in the Perseus Molecular Cloud.” Terry Wei, 17, studied “Comparing the Back-projection Method of Analysis with the JMA HiNet catalogue using the 2011 March 11 Event to Determine the Effectiveness of Imaging Aftershocks,” with regards to earthquakes and their after-effects. All three students are Great Neck residents.
