(NEW HYDE PARK, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) was proud to recognize three outstanding students from Herricks High School who are Intel Science Talent Search 2014 Semifinalists. These students were recognized during a full meeting of the Nassau County Legislature held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Nassau County Legislature building in Mineola.
Prior to the legislative session, Legislator Birnbaum spoke with each student, and presented them with county citations of achievement.

Roslyn resident William Chung, 17, did a project on “The Use of Glassy Matrices to Isolate and Identify the Nitric Oxide Dioxygenase Intermediate” (Biochemistry). New Hyde Park resident Sachit Singal, 17, did a study on the “Chemical and Computational Biology Approach to Identifying the Binding Site of Novel Anti-Tubercular Agents Targeting Mtb-FtsZ” (Chemistry). Roslyn resident Ankoor Talwar, 17, studied “An in vitro assessment of Nitric Oxide-Releasing Nanoparticles as a potential Drug Delivery Vehicle for Treating Hypoxia-Induced Pulmonary Vascular Inflammation” (Bioengineering).
