LEGISLATOR GONSALVES HONORS EAGLE SCOUT

Alternate Deputy Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves recently attended Troop 189 Eagle Court of Honor for Charles Andrew Hillman at Temple B’Nai Torah, Wantagh which is also the chartered organization representative of Boy Scout Troop 189. Charles Andrew Hillman is a resident of East Meadow.  Gonsalves presented a Nassau County Legislative Citation to Eagle Scout Hillman in recognition of the hard work he did for his Eagle Project. Charles’ final project was to build two kayak racks for storage at Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve, Merrick. Charles recruited the manpower and supplies, redid the existing hand railing and added kayak storage adjacent to the railing as well as adding two galvanized steel rails to the existing kayak launch dock. He was able to coordinate volunteers from several scout troops, friends & family and with the assistance of Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray and the Town of Hempstead Parks Department.

“As a longtime friend of the family, Charles Andrew’s achievement of the rank of Eagle made all those in attendance at his Court of Honor extremely proud. Knowing Charles Andrew since his early childhood, it was evident that he would never cease to amaze me as well as his family. It is with great pride that Eagle Scout Charles Andrew Hillman is recognized for his outstanding project benefitting our community, residents and the environment,” said Gonsalves.
