Dear Friend:

If you are an Aqua-New York Water customer, you now have a way to fight Aqua-New York Water's plan to raise the average monthly water bill by 12%.

To make sure that you have the chance to speak publicly on this issue, I urged the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) to hold public hearings within the community. The PSC, which must approve this rate increase before it takes effect, has agreed and will be holding two local public hearings:

Tuesday, September 1st  -  2:00 pm
Merrick Library
2279 Merrick Avenue, Merrick

Tuesday, September 1st  -  7:00 pm
Brookside School
1260 Meadowbrook Road, North Merrick

Even if you can't attend these public hearings, you can still share your opinion with the PSC through email at secretary@dps.state.ny.us (be sure to reference the case number, case #09-W-0237, in your email).

I have already urged the PSC to reject Aqua-New York Water's rate increase proposal because of the effect it will have on local homeowners who are already paying much more for water than those in neighboring communities. If you don't want to pay higher Aqua-New York Water bills, be sure to join me in taking advantage of the opportunity to share your concerns.

Sincerely,
SENATOR CHARLES J. FUSCHILLO, JR.
