Nassau County Legislator Norma L. Gonsalves was recently selected to become a member of the Nassau County Legislature’s newly formed Veterans’ Affairs Committee. The new Veterans’ Affairs Committee was developed to meet the needs of the thousands of U.S. veterans living here in Nassau County. In addition to the many services already administered to veterans through the county, the Veterans’ Affairs Committee will meet regularly to review proposed legislation and conduct hearings relating to matters relevant to the medical and financial needs of veterans of Nassau County.
“I am privileged to be selected as a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. I have worked hard to secure the placement of the new Veteran’s Clinic at the Nassau University Medical Center, which is scheduled to open its doors in April 2009, and I look forward to working side by side with our vets to develop and carry out more projects here in Nassau County in the years to come, ” said Legislator Gonsalves.
The committee met for the first time on June 23, 2008 to adopt its purpose and rules of procedure.
