Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) attended the 150th Anniversary Banquet of The Community Church of Syosset on Thursday, June 30th at the Fox Hollow Inn. The ministry is "rooted in the Past, Sheltering the present, and Reaching out to the future". Jacobs, the guest speaker for the event, reminisced about all the years of her involvement with the church and her friend Rev. Mal Bertram, the former Pastor. She reviewed all the issues the Church lent their building and, most of all, their devotion to: Syosset Senior Day Care Center, Syosset Hospital, Syosset School District, Meetings of Civics, Meetings of Syosset Chamber of Commerce. The list goes on and on. Jacobs and Bertram led the fight years ago to save Syosset Hospital from closing. Of course, they were successful. Jacobs said, "This was an enchanted evening with good friends, wonderful memories, and warmth. I was so honored to be asked to be there. It was extremely meaningful to me."
