Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Committee Luncheon

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Committee of Nassau County held its' 26th Annual Awards Luncheon on Monday, January 17th at the L.I. Marriott in Uniondale. The awards are presented to those individuals who the Committee determines have been outstanding examples of Dr. King's ideals and creative solutions to national issues and problems. Three young people also received awards for essays they presented which were chosen by the Committee. Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury_ said, "This is such an important day to allow everyone to pause and reflect on the true reason we honor Dr. King and all the good he stood for. As we all joined hands and sang "We Shall Overcome", there were very few dry eyes in the room.
