Mineola, NY –Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs
(Woodbury) today was elected by a vote of 10-9 to the
office of Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature.
This will be Jacobs’ fourth consecutive two-year-term
in that leadership position. Jacobs won the election
10-9, with Legislator Peter Schmitt garnering the second
highest number of votes to take the Minority Leader position
once again.
The vote for Presiding Officer took place at a session
of the legislature following several weeks of indecision
and wrangling by all 19 lawmakers.
“I’m humbled and thankful for the support of the Majority Democrats and I look forward to working together with everyone over the next two years,” she said. “We have many major issues to address in the county, including the development of the Coliseum, the Nassau University Medical Center, work force housing and the continued financial stability of the county.”
