On Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, the Nassau County Legislature honored four of the County’s Finest. Police Officers Joseph Albergo; James Schmettan; Christopher Maher and Peter Sikinger of the First Precinct were recognized for their bravery, outstanding police work and service beyond the call of duty during a shots fired incident in Roosevelt one winter evening. Thanks to the teamwork, street knowledge, investigation skills and courage of these officers, two guns and two very dangerous men were taken off the streets of Nassau County.
