Mineola, NY - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced a new $25 Lifetime Leisure Passport for Nassau veterans to utilize the County’s recreational facilities. The passport provides discounts to pools, skating rinks, golf courses, tennis courts, beaches, marinas and cabanas operated by the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums. Active duty military, along with their spouse and children, will now enjoy free access to County pools and all the benefits of a Leisure Pass with proof of valid military identification.
County Executive Mangano stated, “After having given so much of themselves for our nation, this is the least that Nassau County can do to show our gratitude. It is my hope that we see many more veterans and military families enjoying our parks, golf courses, and all that we have to offer recreationally in the months and years to come.”
“This is just one small way that we can show appreciation for our veterans,” added Presiding Officer Norma Gonsalves. “The county cannot thank them enough for all they have given to our great nation.”
“Improving the quality of life for veterans is a priority of mine,” said Legislator Donald MacKenzie, Chairman of the Veterans and Senior Affairs Committee. “Hopefully this will allow more veterans to obtain a leisure pass and enjoy some of the wonderful facilities we have in Nassau County.”
