VITAL RECORDS
BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATES
Birth & Death Certificates are not maintained by the County Clerk's Office, but rather the municipality in which the event took place: the towns, two cities and the incorporated villages. For example, if the event occurred in Glen Cove, you would contact the Clerk's office in the City of Glen Cove. The County Clerk's Notary department can authenticate Birth & Death certificates for a $5.00 fee.

MARRIAGE LICENSES & DIVORCE RECORDS
In Nassau County, marriage licenses are issued by the three towns and two cities. Marriage Licenses are maintained by the municipality in which the license was obtained. For a copy, you would go to the same Town Hall in which you originally obtained the license. For example, if you were married in Glen Cove, but you obtained your marriage license in the Town of Hempstead, your license would be available at the Town of Hempstead. The Nassau County Clerk does, however, have a record of marriages beginning with the year 1907 and ending April 29, 1935.
Please note: in order to obtain a copy of a divorce certificate, you must be the husband, wife or attorney of record. Official photo identification such as driver's license or passport must be presented when requesting matrimonial (divorce) files.
