Mangano To Host Free Narcan Training Seminars For Families In the continued war on prescription drug abuse and the heroin epidemic, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced four free public Narcan training seminars where residents can learn how to administer a lifesaving antidote which can reverse the fatal effects of an Opioid overdose. Narcan is simply administered through a nasal spray, by those who complete the 90-minute training. Trainees who are over the age of 18 will receive a free nasal Narcan kit.

Mangano today announced that registration for the 2014 Nickerson Beach Park Cabana lottery will begin tomorrow, Friday, February 28th and will run through Friday, April 25th.  The cabana lottery drawing will take place on Tuesday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m., with the winners notified via telephone. The cabana fee for the 2014 summer season is $3,400.00.

Cuomo invite residents to participate in the Citizen Preparedness Training Program this Saturday at Bethpage High School. The two hour training session is being offered in order for residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family participating will receive a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit. The kit includes a plastic drop cloth, light stick, (2) D Batteries, First Aid Kit, face mask, safety goggles, am/fm pocket radio with batteries, 6 pack of drinking water, 6 food bars, flashlight, emergency blanket, duct tape, a water bottle and work gloves. Mangano Announces South Phase Of West Shore Road Reconstruction Project Out For Bid Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced today that the Nassau County Department of Public Works (DPW) has issued bids for the reconstruction of the southern part of West Shore Road, the critical road between Oyster Bay and Bayville that was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. In November of 2012, Mangano issued an emergency order to rebuild the damaged portion of the seawall and road. The road was reopened ahead of schedule and completed as promised by the July 4th holiday weekend.

Mangano Helps Keep Doors Of Garden City Hotel Open For Business Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the Nassau Industrial Development Agency (IDA) today announced the approval of an economic development compact that will assist the new owners of the Garden City Hotel to move forward with a $26 million complete cosmetic and technological renovation of the 272-room iconic property. The project is expected to result in the creation of 24 new permanent full-time equivalent jobs within three years — the hotel now has 265 employees — and 30 full-time equivalent construction jobs over a year of construction, which is expected to begin immediately. The project will generate economic benefits to the county of $1.75 million.

Mangano announced today that the deadline for submitting applications for all property tax exemptions for the 2014-15 school and general fund tax year has been extended to Wednesday, January 8, 2014.
